Cooking With Lavender

I did not know that there was anyone out there who loved Lavender as much as I do, but there is, and she wrote a Lavender cookbook. Her name is Kathy Gehrt and she is from our neck of the woods, good ol' Seattle, Washington. She has traveled far and wide gathering, tasting and creating her collection of yummy lavender recipes. We love her book so much that we are going to sell it in our gift shop. And today (well yesterday) my first order has arrived. THEY ARE HERE!  Pictured is our Culinary Lavender and our Herbs de Provence with Sun Dried Tomatoes.  This trio makes a great gift for the Chef in your family.

Planning the year

I am TRYING to put together Lavender Hill's 2010 calendar, but it is hard. So many events that we want to attend over lap, which means we would miss one to go to another.

At this point a cloning machine would be great. My clone could make all of the product while I play in my garden. My clone could be at one event and I at the other. I think that is a Great Idea. I know, I know. You are thinking of that movie from the late 90's with Andie MacDowell....Duplicity..Multiplicity?? I saw the movie and I know the ending. It is not a "Great Idea".

Back to the calendar! For those of you that "GOOGLE" events like I do, you may have noticed nothing is to be found for Eden's Old Town Farmers Market 2010. That is because there is nothing posted...yet.

I am not sure if there is going to be an, "Eden Farmers Market".  But if there is Lavender Hill is going to try and be there or somewhere IN Eden.  We have decided to do at least one Eden Event each month.  For example: June: Eden Farmers Market, July: Huntsville Breakfast at the Park, Aug: Ogden Valley Balloon Festival, Sept: Taste of Ogden at Wolf Creek...and so on.

Here is last year's information on the Market

Old Town Eden Farmers Market 2010:
When: Memorial Day to Labor Day
Where: Behind Carlos and Harleys (same as last year)
What: Local Artist and Farmers selling their handmade craft and home grown crop. There will be the kid’s corner and the flag ceremony on Opening Day. (same as last year)

She said she will send out information toward the end of April.

----So there is my little bit of help so you too can plan your 2010 calendar----

A new soap fragrance

We now have 3 different soaps.

The newest is our Lavender & Spice bar with cinnamon and cloves. It is packaged in the brown tissue paper. The other soap change is that our Lavender & Peppermint bar is now packaged in a mint green paper to match it’s smell. My favorite is the Lavender & Oatmeal which is packaged in the dark purple tissue paper.

And if all of the “paper and packaging” as described above is confusing…just follow your nose and pick the one that tickles your fancy.

Tea Lovers

After much delightful deliberation (because I had to be the taste tester) we have our tea blends. Currently we have 2 flavors. Aloha Lavender and Quiet Evening.

Aloha Lavender is a mix if Rooibos, Coconut and Lavender. We call it a "Luau in your cup" When I make a cup it fills my entire kitchen with a coconut aroma. It is so sweet that I don’t even add honey.

Quiet Evening is more traditional. It is a mix of Chamomile and Lavender. Simple and light. Again, it is sweet enough that honey is not needed.

We sell both of them loose in a tin. If you don’t have a tea ball, we do.

Both are caffeine free herbal teas.
