Winter in the Valley

Looking South on a sunny winter afternoon.
Looking out over the valley, and a little blue sky over the lavender rows.
This is my favorite.  Poppy's Garden Shed with a little snow on top.
Bundle up, winter has just begun.

Where does this door lead?

This is the question of the year.
If you think you know the answer, let me know.
Don't worry, I will tell you the answer in 2011.

What is on your coffee table?

One of my winter "To-Do" things is to catch up on some reading.  Over the summer our customers have suggested a few titles that we should read.  This is what our coffee table in our lavender office currently looks like.

Lavender Pictures

During the winter it is hard to post NEW pictures of our lavender.  So, instead I post pictures of our events and the shops that our products are in.  I know I may go a bit overboard when I talk about some of the boutiques and they really don't have much to do about "Lavender", but I found them interesting, and maybe you might too.
This picture is from this summer and I don't think
that I have posted it yet
(I was saving it for the right time).

Lavender Hill @ The Cultural Celebration - Winter Market

The last boutique of the year for Lavender Hill was Cultural Celebration in WVC.  This event was full of music, dance, singing and holiday decorations.
The big tree in the foyer.
Our booth was in the World Bazaar
 Lavender Hill Booth
Looking over the room.  My little camera doesn't do it justice.  There were jewelry vendors, artists,  the chocolate guy, paper craft from Germany, stained glass...and much MUCH more.
Out in the foyer they had a "Gingerbread House Competition".  There were houses made by all ages and cultures.  So there was a little pueblo gingerbread house.
This one was so detailed.
Across the way they had the Cultural Trees and Wreaths.  I had to get a picture of this one decorated by the Cancer Society. (It is Purple!)

All of the trees and wreaths represented a different culture. There were at least 20 different trees.
A WONDERFUL display.
All day long during the boutique there was music and song. There were 4 man quartets, a drummer and Samoan dancers. Different groups came and played instruments from their country.  The dance groups danced dances that represented their heritage.

I wish I had a bigger flash.  The costumes were so detailed.
Next year this event should be on your calendar.  It was the BEST Holiday Show I have been to all year.
There were actually multiple events at the Cultural Arts Center.  This picture shows a few.
The pictures below show a few of my favorite decorations.
This wreath was decorated by the Garden Club.  It had little seed packets, veggies (fake), and tools tied into the wreath.  Being a fellow Gardener, I voted for this one.
The PURPLE cancer tree again.  And last but not least from AAA tree  "Buckle Up".  And drive safe through the Holidays!
 Merry Christmas!

Holiday @ the English Garden

I also went to the English Garden at the SLC Library to restock our Lavender Hill display this week.  Here are a couple of little cute things Ximena had.
Holiday  Decorations
 Delicate Topiary
Jasmine...Have you ever smelled a live jasmine before?  I love them.  I also love the smell of a lemon tree in bloom. ( Regularly $25.00, but with their Holiday Sale it is only $20.00)
Wonderful Ximena, She and her husband run and own The English Garden. They have been in the Library for 8 years now.
Remember I said that I would get a picture of the inside of the Library when it was day light?  Well here it is.  I was lucky on the day I went because I got to hear the Children's choir singing from the 2nd floor.
The English Garden's Holiday sale is: 20% off any one regular price item.

Blooming Amaryllis? - Willard Bay Gardens

I went to restock our display at Willard Bay Gardens.  Lavender Hill's 30% off Holiday Sale goes to Dec 21st.  I first said that it would go through December, but that won't work if the store is closed.  Barney and Della head to warmer climates for Christmas.
While I was there this amaryllis was in bloom.  There were 15 or so more Bigger ones in different colors that were starting to send up shoots.  I bet they will bloom right around Christmas.
So head on in and get an Amaryllis for that green thumb friend.  They are still having their 20% off sale for gift certificates.  These are perfect for the gardener in your family.

Snow Covered Lavender

It is a good thing that I have this little lavender marked.

Season of Change?

Dear Readers,

Do you remember me talking about our "A-Z To Do List"?  Updating the blog layout was letter "E" on that list. You may notice a few things are different.  I have added "Pages".  These tabs are on the right. You can click on a tab to read about the markets or events that we have been at. The "FOOD" page is still under construction, but this is where I will put pictures of the things we make with lavender.  Yumm.

Notice the Wand Making's easy to find.
